THEN THERE’S MY N-GAUGE RAILWAY ......
It started life about 8 years ago (or at least some of it was re-born - after about 8 years in a big cardboard box!). It is now resplendent on a large window-sill and any further extension has been banned!! I think it measures about 2’6” by about 8’ and I’m just glad that the major construction was completed a while ago as EYESIGHT is now the problem! Not just the need for glasses - but the right glasses! - then trying not to get them steamed up whilst concentrating! The layout consists of two main loops with various sidings and two separate turning loops. All the points are mechanical, so, unless I am really with it, there are a few accidents!

I think that this was when I first discovered the magic of eBay! (April 2004) How else could I possibly set up an N-gauge railway based up here in the far North - at least 100 miles from the nearest model shop?? Though I must say there are also a couple of very helpful on-line model shops!
THE LAYOUT
It took me a couple of years to complete the layout, AND of course the lighting - the hard bit! I had to ask my better half to wire it all up for me - NOT easy upside-down under the board! (I have since learned to solder, but the technical limitations still fox me somewhat - ie the difference between wiring up 12V bulbs and LEDs which seem to be 3V on average!)
I think my layout is based in the 60’s with a few errors either way. I kind of lost interest in trains when diesel took over - though I would still give house-room to Deltics and diesel shunters!

My last main addition was the loop to the right - with a nine-hole sea-side golf-course and a lighthouse.
As an early Christmas present to myself I bought (from eBay of course) two light-up coaches! Exciting - just hope they will fit in with the layout - a spot of painting may be required! As you can see below the coaches arrived and are great!
The railway is still extant of course and runs from time to time (so long as I give the rails a bit of a clean!)
